The English Department offers college-preparatory, honors and AP courses, giving students the tools to analyze and appreciate literature and to communicate effectively in a variety of rhetorical forms. Students engage with a diverse body of texts during their four years of English, with each grade level approaching the study of literature through a specific focus: Genres of Literature (grade 9), Literature and Society (grade 10), American Literature (grade 11) and World Literature (grade 12). There are structured formal writing assignments across all four grade levels, with an emphasis on the research process and critical analysis.
